Also called Bath Babies, because these bath dolls could be washed or taken into the bath with the proud owner. (This was of course no longer possible for the previously produced biscuit Dolls that often had a fragile body.) A Frozen Charlotte or Charlie is a specific form of porcelain or biscuit doll made from one solid piece without joints from c. 1850 to c. 1920. They were affordable for the lower classes at the time.
This Charlie belongs to the larger sizes 41cm x 17cm x 18cm and is in good condition. The dolls were considerably popular during the Victorian era.
These and many other bath dolls produced in Germany are not stamped but are clearly recognizable by the charismatic appearance that the dolls radiate.
